A big update!

Posted on June 16, 2023June 19, 2023 by Pascal Belisle

I thought the game was 90% finished, but after months of working like crazy to optimize and save memory space, I just learn that, with the mapper I use, I can double the size I currently have! (I could even quadruple, but that would be too much). I always assumed the default memory configuration was absolute. The good news is, I will add a completely new area with more levels, and certainly more music! I will also provide a language option to add french. The bad new is I’ll have to push back the release date a bit.

So right now I’m working on adding new enemies and polishing things. I implemented the death animation! So far, you couldn’t die in the game since I was always testing things. Here’s the obligatory game over screen:

I will probably run a Kickstarter campaign at the end of summer. It gives me time to finish and test the game. I’m in talk with a publisher, but you won’t have the physical edition in hand until next year.

I also post some gameplay videos from time to time on my Youtube channel. Make sure to subscribe and click that like button! It really helps!

My latest video, a new mechanic to add some variety of gameplay

This week I implemented Lars, the ghost-town merchant. He will provide upgrades for the orbs of power. There are 5 orbs to collect: The paddle booster, the magnet, the weapon (to shoot projectiles), the heal and the dash. I updated the HUD. Now you can assign an orb to either A or B.

Meet Lars, the eloquent merchant

That’s all folks. See you next time.
